MOFA Qatar Attestation Process for Original Documents

If the company is registered with Qatar Chamber, the original document must first be attested by Qatar Chamber. For companies registered under the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), the applicable QFC authentication may be required.
The original document must first be attested by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education before proceeding with MOFA Qatar attestation.
Documents issued by Qatar government authorities can generally proceed directly for MOFA Qatar attestation. Marriage certificates may require a manual stamp and signature from the Supreme Judicial Council before MOFA attestation.
Hospital-issued documents may require prior authentication by the Ministry of Public Health before proceeding with MOFA Qatar attestation.
Bank-issued documents may require prior authentication by the Qatar Central Bank before proceeding with MOFA Qatar attestation.
Many digitally issued Qatar government documents may be eligible for MOFA Qatar attestation, including certain documents issued through Metrash.
If your document was issued outside Qatar and requires MOFA attestation in Qatar, the following steps must be completed:
The document must first be authenticated by the relevant authority in the country of origin, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or legalized/apostilled where applicable.
The document must then be attested by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the country where the document was issued.
If the document has not been attested by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the country where it was issued, attestation by the embassy of the document-issuing country in Qatar may be required. Only one of these two embassy attestation requirements needs to be fulfilled.
Finally, once the required prior attestations are completed, the document can proceed for attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Qatar.

Documents Required for Attestation

The requirements for Document Attestation Services depend on several factors, including the nature of the document, where it was issued, where it will be used, and the purpose for which the attestation is required. Therefore, the attestation process may differ from one document to another.

Documents Issued Outside Qatar

Generally, documents issued abroad, particularly educational certificates, degrees, diplomas, and transcripts, require proper legalization before they can be submitted to government authorities in Qatar.

For example, when an educational document issued abroad is intended for submission to a Qatar government authority, such as the Ministry of Labour, the document may first require the applicable legalization and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Qatar attestation. After completing the required attestation, the document can be translated into Arabic for submission to the relevant authority.

Documents Issued in Qatar for Use Abroad

Similarly, certain documents issued in Qatar require attestation when they will be used abroad for visa, immigration, employment, education, business, or other official purposes.

In such cases, the original document may require MOFA Qatar attestation. In addition, depending on the destination country and intended use, legalization by the embassy or consulate of the destination country in Qatar may also be required.

The same may apply to translated documents. Depending on the requirements of the receiving authority, a certified translation may require additional authentication before proceeding with MOFA Qatar or embassy legalization.

Important: Attestation requirements vary according to the document type, issuing authority, country of issue, destination country, and intended purpose. Therefore, we recommend checking your document’s eligibility and required attestation process before proceeding.
